Tactical Trades Using Weekly Options to Exploit Short-term Market Inefficiencies

Sounds like the title of a doctoral dissertation right? That's a fancy name for a trading strategy that I have developed after years of "struggles and progresses" in the stock market. I will try to come up with a shorter name but for now I'm pretty happy with what I got. Nothing has taken up that much of my time as the stock market since I set foot in this country. I have spent countless number of hours and sleepless nights to read up on current news, analyze markets, do research and keep track of my real and hypothetical portfolios. I have also gone to numerous seminars and workshops and met with many college professors, investment professionals and with those who share the same interest. This passion was developed way back in the first year of my college in Vietnam and that passion has been with me ever since.

The strategy comprises of 5 critical elements: technical analysis, fundamental analysis, money management, psychology, and time management. The strategy has recently been implemented and it has returned nicely in 2012. I will share this strategy with my investment circles and invite more scrutiny/critics when the time is right. If I can make this work consistently then the ultimate goal of financial freedom won't be unattainable. More work has to be done and more adjustments need to be made, but for now I'm happy with it.

I'm so happy that finally I have gotten this project off the ground. Having a place to write freely about anything I want gives me such a good feeling. Posting notes on FB is ostentatious but keeping secret diary doesn't give me enough incentives to write. A little blog placed at a normally ignored corner of FB is an ideal middle ground. Given the fact that I will have to write multiple essays for my future Master/Doctor applications, it's just so important to keep my writing skills sharp. I also love to write about topics I'm interested in or put out a note on an important contemporary political/economic/social event. In addition, blog is a great place to deliver messages to someone who cares enough about me to browse my blog on a regular basis. My blog could be a little bit disorganized so please bear with me if you want to know more about who I am, what I think and do. Welcome!

unprecedented opportunity in SPRD

I have spotted something really unusual going on with the stock SPRD. It fell more than 20% last Friday in sympathy with RF Micro Devices. This just doesn't make sense since they compete in different markets and the fundamentals of SPRD are still very strong. The valuation of SPRD is currently ridiculously low. I believe there is some sort of manipulation at display here. I stand ready to capture this opportunity. Let's wait to see how this plays out. If everything goes as expected, I should be able to double if not triple my investment. Again, options trading is extremely risky and be prepared to lose everything if markets turn against you. "Markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent."

A couple of caveats: SPRD's chart looks ugly, earnings date is a couple of months away, negative sentiment in China's economy, Europe headline risks.

I will set a side around 3k for this trade. Be ready!
